Charles Eames

Charles Eames is one of the great creative personalities of the twentieth century. He studied architecture at the Washington University in St. Louis, and has successfully worked in many fields over the years.
The Finnish architect Eero Saarinen, with whom he shared professional experiences and a deep friendship, had a great influence on him.
In 1941 he won with him the competition for the MoMA in New York for '"Organic Design in Home Furnishing".
Their work showed a new way of conceiving the wooden furniture, pioneering the use of curved plywood. In the late 40s he was involved in the experimental program Case Study Houses of residential building, drawing, among other things his own home, subsequently marked as a forerunner example of high-tech architecture. Eames had always preferred projects where he was involved from start to finish. With this philosophy he designed furniture, photographed and filmed movies, created toys and taught. Eams had the good fortune to live on what he loved. His  wife – the painter Ray – played a very important role in all his works.
